Why is there a difference between the speed limits on highways in dubai and abudhabi ? Both say 120 on the board; whereas camera flashes in dubai after 140 Km/h and in Abudhabi after 160 Km/hr ? [Report]

its because its a different emirate , each can setup its own rules. Even gas prices are different [Report]

Thats right, in abu dhabi highways unofficial speed limit is 160km on highways so if you go to al ain from abu dhabi its all 160km but if you go from duabi to abu dhabi till Ghantoot its 140 and after that when you enter Abu dhabi emirate its 160km. [Report]

Dubai has a traffic and housing and industry all the way uptill ghantoot
when abu dhabi starts at seeh al shoaib there is no apparant population using the areas near the highway whereas during the ride from szr to ghantoot there are many lanes diverting or attaching to the highway thus causing the traffic to slowdown.
abudhabi is 87% of the UAE
the highways are long stretches of unstopped roads
the traffic is faster than that compared to any other emirate
the people are rich and can afford big V8's and V10's and V12's or maybe V16's
petrol is cheaper relatively
so i guess it only makes sense for the daily commuters to have given the space and exception
Dubai is filled with mallooo's who dont drive more than 32kph on a 120kph rd
and cause the major accidents 61% (rta figure it actually said indians - no ofense to anyone) but a fact is a fact
and even the 140kph lid is conditional
it even snaps u at 121 sometimes
people die in dubai more than any other emirate 287 deaths last year just in dubai

in case anyone needs more info pls contact www.rta.ae [Report]

they both are ways of eating money .. the fine should be 50-100dhs max for a radar .. i just believe that abu dhabi eats less money from ppl than dubai do..

and i dont think a guy will speed up to 160 unless he's really confident of his driving thats why no need to flash at 140..

gusse wat? last week i was driving on 101-102km/h and i got flashed by a camera in dubai.. for f*** sake, driving 100 will not be dangerous on anyone ! [Report]
